Strategic Project: Chemical-Free Arsenic Removal for Small-Scale Potable Water Treatment Systems

 

[Pilot Study and Municipal Installation Study]

This research project is a joint venture between Mainstream Water Solutions Inc., the University of Regina Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, and Communities of Tomorrow.

OBJECTIVE:
To further explore the operational and performance aspects of using ZVI filings to remove arsenic from potable water. This project i s a continuation of previous research.

RESEARCHERS:
Ann Gottinger, MASc., and Don Wild.

COLLABORATORS:
Dr. Dena McMartin, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, University of Regina, and Dr. Brett Moldovan.

RESEARCH PLAN:
This project includes further pilot study work, as well as the installation and monitoring of a municipal-scale ZVI/sand column. Media disposal, regulatory approvals, and media certification are included. The ZVI/sand media, called MSFeSD Arsenic Removal media has been NSF (Standard 61) approved for use in potable water systems. www.nsf.org
